The Cadillac Society Take

The 25 percent decrease in Cadillac Canada sales during the first quarter of 2020 was impacted substantially by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with the country losing nearly one month worth of sales volume.

Noteworthy events that took place during the quarter include the launch of the Cadillac CT5 sedan, as well as an uptick in deliveries of the now-discontinued CT6. The upcoming CT4 has yet to go on sale in Canada.

Cadillac sedan sales totaled 195 units, or only 10 percent of the overall sales volume, while Cadillac crossover accounted for 1,515 units or 75 percent of sales volume. The remaining 320 units, or 15 percent of sales volume, are attributable to the Escalade and Escalade ESV.

Cadillac is currently undergoing a major transition, replacing two of its sedans – the ATS and CTS – with all-new models – the CT4 and CT5. In addition, the Escalade is about to be replaced by an all-new model in the first half of 2020, while the XT5 is getting a refresh for the 2020 model year.

We expect Cadillac Canada sales to continue at significantly depressed levels so long as the coronavirus pandemic doesn’t subside.
