Replying to my own post: Today the dealer stripped out all of the “updates” and went back to factory 0. The tech then added back the latest sound system calibrations and lo and behold, the system is “fixed”. While I can say that I am not a fan of the calibration values used for the “Adaptive Volume”, I can say that at least now, the sound isn’t totally messed up! There is still too much bass boost, but the distortion is gone and the muffled voice is gone. I have elected to turn it off and instead have set the system as follows: Equalizer +0 for Treble and Mid and +4 for Bass. Sound set on “Front” and 3D set at about 270 degrees or 3/4 of the bubble shaded over the seats. I found 0 to be very flat and too much over the I/P and 360 to have too much “reverb”. System is amazing and I’d encourage folks to “play” with it…you’ll be amazed at what it can do.

Hi All, I have to agree with many of the comments regarding the AKG 36 speaker sound system. It really makes this feel like a more like a mobile sound lab than a truck! It begs to be played loud! I am, however experiencing glitches with the Adaptive Volume that are really messing up the sound. Not sure if others have noticed this issue. I have a Satin Steel Platinum Model with Jet Black interior and get comments all the time on how great it looks. I got it with most of the toys and will tell you that if you intend to travel interstates, Super Cruise is a must! Night vision also helps you see much farther down the road at night than you can with just the headlights. Very useful out in the “boonies” where we are. Unlike one of the reviewers, the seats work well for me, but I am only 5’8″ as opposed to his 6’2. They are comfortable, adjustable and the massage is great. I also agree that more HP would be nice…not a deal breaker, but nice. Something around 500 with 500ftlb of torque would be about right for a flagship vehicle of this size. Kind of disappointed that this was not on the list of improvements for the 2021 versus previous models. Ride and overall interior comfort is MUCH improved over the past model. I had a 2018 and the 2021 is a quantum leap beyond in most areas! The Escalade is one of the hottest selling vehicles in the US and the chip issues, COVID shutdowns and general supply chain disruptions have really hurt all industries and this hot selling vehicle is no exception. It is worth the wait and hopefully, issues will be corrected with time and supply will improve. For the person who posted that they had a note from Cadillac saying their OLED display was building, my vehicle was completed within a week of my getting that notification. Depending on where you live and how it ships, you might expect to wait about a month before it gets to the dealer…assuming no other issues. Mine was held at the plant for a month after completing build, due to weather in Texas and some part quality issues.

Hi AmandaS, I have the 36 speaker system and I can tell you that when it is working correctly, it is AMAZING! If you enjoy listening to music at moderate to higher volumes, you will hear all the nuances that you probably never heard before. Especially rock music from the 60’s and 70’s. Recording engineers did a lot of “playing” with the technology and you’ll hear effects that you never heard before. Pink Floyd’s “Money” is incredible. Sound stage and clarity are unbelievable! At lower volumes, you’ll lose some of this, but still get more than you would with a “mere mortal” sound system. So why my caveat “when it is working correctly”? Mine has a glitch that is most evident with the Adaptive Volume turned “on”. Music sound is grossly “misshaped” with over bassing and muted voice and treble. My understanding is that it could be related to the amplifier and a microphone. A speaker in the console could also be involved. I have a service appointment and hope that it is just simply the amplifier which is a relatively easy change. If it is the microphone or the console speaker, it could get involved. Your system should not have the issue since you’ll have the new part number amplifier. If you are NOT an “audiophile” and just like to listen to background music, then I wouldn’t spend the extra for the 36 speakers. If you love listening to all the music can offer, the 36 speaker system is well worth it!

Hi AmandaS, if the order was accepted, you might want to follow up and see if they can give you an estimated build date. They were able to give me one at the time and it was about 3 weeks after they accepted the order. It was for a build “week” and they did, in fact, start build during that week. Once build starts, it should only take a day or two to get through the actual build. Time to clear all the checks and leave the plant is another issue. Mine waited for a month before it was shipped due to “other issues” that needed to be corrected before shipping. Once it hit the rail, it got to me in South Carolina in just under 3 weeks. I would not pay 20k over sticker either! These are among the hottest selling vehicles in the US right now.

Just got back from a 4000 mile road trip with 2021 Super Cruise Escalade. If you plan to travel a lot of interstates and use this for road trips, the Super Cruise is well worth it. Probably the least fatigued I’ve been after driving for 7-9 hours per day that I have ever been. Ride is great. If you’ve ordered SC or are considering, it is well worth the wait. On the road we saw many 2021 Tahoe’s and Yukon’s, but in the entire 4000 miles, only saw 3 Escalades and two were together. Did see a few car haulers with Escalades on the road, so they are coming!

Hi Wayne in SC! Thanks for your note and the info on your 1600 mile trip. We have plans to do about 4000 miles in the near future. Can’t wait to enjoy the Super Cruise and massage seats as we while away the miles!! I have to say again, they really raised the bar with this one. I did test drive a Lincoln Navigator before I ordered the Escalade and in my opinion, there is no comparison. Escalade is on a much higher level. Just read that it is one of the hottest selling vehicles in the US with only a 19 day supply. Enjoy your summer! Cheers, Pete in SC.

I took delivery of mine with Super Cruise on March 31. Weather and part shortages kept it at the plant for just over a month after it was built. It is worth the wait as many have said. Super Cruise is incredible and lane change will “blow your mind”! This generation is “light years” ahead of the previous in tech, ride and comfort.

buster, only thing I can suggest is to use the search tool on the Cadillac website and see if there are any available that are close to what you want. You can pick a central location in the US, like Kansas and then widen the search to 2000 miles. That will pretty well show you everything that is available in the US. You could then call the dealer that has the vehicle and see if they would sell it to you. You could then travel to pick it up. Lot of work, I know, but the vehicle is amazing! If you live near an interstate, the Super Cruise is amazing and well worth it if you drive the interstate frequently or plan to travel. Vehicle is head and shoulders over the past model in all respects except for storage in the doors, console and hidden compartment in the Instrument Panel. Also, glove box does not have the cool electric release the old one did. 36 speaker sound system is unbelievable.

I agree that communication from Cadillac has been poor. I also ordered in November and got a couple of updates on my order status from Cadillac and then all went “dark” after the February storm in Texas. There should have been a status update at that time to at least let us know what happened. Then I got an update that it was shipping and then no more updates. Text updates also just disappeared. The “notification system” built a lot of false expectations and did not deliver. The happy news is that I took delivery end of March and it was worth the wait (not an ESV). I do know they have had problems with part deliveries and the weather complicated that further. The microchip shortage is hurting all manufacturers. Still, updates would help us all understand what the issues are and what to expect.

One more thought…another option you have is to use the Cadillac website to search “available” inventory. You may be able to find one you like that is either a) already built or b) in transit. You could then contact that dealer and see if they have sold it. If not, you could work with that dealer to buy it from them. You could also ask your dealer if they can work a “dealer trade” with that dealer. These are VERY hot models with a very low supply of stock since they are selling so quickly. In fact it is one of the hottest selling vehicles in the country right now so they are very hard to come by.

Hi All. I just took delivery (March 31) of a Premium Lux Platinum with Super Cruise. I ordered in November 2020, but knew it would not start build until January 2021. In early January I checked on the status and was told it was being held-up because the chrome wheels were not available. I switched to the standard wheels and was fortunate to get a build date in early February. The vehicle built Feb 12, but then the weather disaster hit Texas. That delayed it for at least a week. There was then an issue with seat belt installation (caused a recall for orders already built) and a part quality issue. That held up shipping until 3/17 while the plant waited to get new parts. 3/17 the vehicle was released for shipping. It got on the train to South Carolina on March 18. It arrived in South Carolina on March 26. It was picked up by truck and delivered to the dealer on March 30. That’s the timeline I experienced. The usual disclaimers: Your mileage may vary, batteries not included, some assembly required!! HA HA!. Most important thing you can do is to continually check with the dealer. They can give you a pretty good status update since their system allows them to track orders in pretty good detail. They don’t really have any “power” to speed things up, but they can tell you what is happening and you can adjust your expectations accordingly. In a normal world, it should take 2-4 weeks to get it AFTER it is built. Hope all this helps…it WAS worth the wait!! Super Cruise is amazing for those who have ordered!

Wabbates, Thanks for the timing info. It was in Shreveport Saturday morning. I ordered essentially a color duplicate of my 2018…so it’s the Satin Steel with the Jet Black interior. I also ordered the floor liners which I have on the 2018 and really like them. They have kept the interior looking like new. One other thing I did, and I did it on my boat as well, I bought the dealers interior protection package. They spray some magic stuff on the surfaces and it keeps them looking like new. It does wonders on the boat as well. After three years and 46000 miles there is no sign of wear on the seats, the door trim or the steering wheel. The interior looks like the day I bought it and all I do is wipe it down with a damp cloth.

Wabbates, CONGRATULATIONS!! Mine was still in Texas as of this morning. It is ready to ship, but hasn’t found it’s way to a train yet! Glad you got yours and glad to hear it is worth the wait. From all that I’ve seen in person, and my drive of a 2021 Denali, I know it’s a huge improvement over the old model! Can’t wait!! Thanks for the update!

Got word today that “hold” on my vehicle was removed and the new “Super Cruise” steering wheel was available. Hoping to see it get on the train…soon!
