KeymasterWow, that’s pretty disappointing news. Did they tell you why it couldn’t be fixed?
Alex Luft
KeymasterAh, I see what you mean. It’s certainly not an unreasonable way of thinking.
That said, the delay in Super Cruise in the Lyriq (based on what I know) is related to delays in testing the system to GM’s standards. In other words, they need to put on a few hundred thousand Super Cruise miles on the final integrated prototypes, which obviously requires time. To that end, the team didn’t have the full amount of time for that since the launch timeframe for the Lyriq was moved up by nearly a year.
All in, I would be shocked if the scenario that you described ends up taking place. What I see taking place is that they’ll fully validate Super Cruise and launch it once that’s complete.
Alex Luft
KeymasterI’m not in a similar situation, but I understand what you mean.
If Super Cruise is your concern, then may I suggest doing a test drive of an existing Cadillac model with Super Cruise, such as the Escalade, CT4 or CT5. The Super Cruise system in those models will function mostly (if not entirely) the same as the one in the Lyriq.
Alex Luft
KeymasterYes, production of the CT5-V Blackwing will continue after the 120th anniversary edition, which is a special edition that has no impact on the future of the line.
Alex Luft
KeymasterYup, orders for both the Lyriq RWD and AWD will open on May 19th.
Here are some more details on both models as far as features are concerned:

KeymasterI think it’s perfectly drivable as a daily driver, especially with the auto. Those with the stick should really want to shift. If that doesn’t sound all that appealing for a daily, then it’s probably best to go with the auto.

KeymasterNicely done, Pat and congratulations on an awesome vehicle!
Alex Luft
KeymasterCongrats on the great car!
I’m a fan of the XT4 and am glad you and your wife are liking yours!
Alex Luft
KeymasterHi Joe. Thanks for the question and sorry we didn’t get to it in time before you took delivery.
Yup, the transit wheels are typically the “standard” / base wheels on Cadillac models.
Glad you’re enjoying it and congrats on the XT4!
Alex Luft
KeymasterYeah, this tends to happen on occasion.
Sometimes, the wait times are really (really) long. It took three months to build my ATS. The virus likely added a good two months to your order (because of the downtime) at the plant.
Did your dealer give you an order number?
Alex Luft
KeymasterYeah, I didn’t care for the run flats on my ATS Sedan Premium when I got it. They make what is otherwise an excellent car quite noisy and limit its adhesion. Replaced them with Pilot Super Sports about 500 miles into my ownership. They are amazing on the ATS.
Obviously, the only problem is that there is no spare. That’s what I have roadside assistance for, which is part of the bumper-to-bumper warranty on the vehicle. When the warranty runs out, a good way to get it is through your insurance or, alternatively, via the cheapest OnStar plan.

KeymasterWelcome to the forum!
That’s awesome you’re enjoying your XT4. How do you like the transmission?
Alex Luft
KeymasterFolks, production of the CT6 will continue. Cadillac President Steve Carlisle (along with his boss, GM President Mark Reuss), confirmed that in the recent months. It seems that plans are being made to move production of the CT6 outside the Detroit-Hamtramck plant to a different plant, most likely Lansing Grand River (where the ATS, CTS, CT4, and CT5 are made).
All in, rumors of the death of the CT6 are untrue, though said rumors are Cadillac’s own fault since it grossly mishandled communicating its plans about the future of the vehicle.

KeymasterJon,
I’m afraid that the answer to your question is more complicated than a simple date.
There is no concrete date about when the XT4 (or any model) will come out, because it depends on so many factors, including:
– where you are in the country
– whether your dealer ordered the XT4
– what trim level the dealer ordered and whether there will be any manufacturing constraints associated with the particular configuration ordered
– the shipping/transport from the plant to the dealer (which sometimes gets held up by rail and trucks)So because of all these factors, Cadillac gives us the (rather wide) availability window of “fall 2018″.
A few weeks ago, we were unofficially told that job one (series production of the first XT4) will take place at the end of September, around September 28.
That’s the best I can do at this point. Other that that, I would recommend reaching out to your local dealer to check on the order status of the XT4 unit(s) they have incoming.

KeymasterHi @Marland and welcome to the Cadillac Society forum.
Have you checked the setting in your XT5 that liftgate mode is set to on?
You can check this via a rotary setting on the bottom of the driver-side door. It has these 3 settings:
– Max
– 3/4
– OffLet me know 🙂
