Next-Gen Cadillac CT6 Will Soon Debut In China

Not too long ago, Cadillac Society spotted the next-generation Cadillac CT6 undergoing testing on U.S. roads, completely devoid of any camouflage, showing off the luxury sedan’s styling in full force for the first time, meaning that it’s exactly what will start rolling off the production line. And now, we’ve learned that the CT6 will make its debut in China in the near future.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the next-generation Cadillac CT6 will be fully unveiled in China within a few days. It will go on sale in the Asian country shortly thereafter, before the second quarter of 2023 ends. As such, the luxury marque’s Chinese division is preparing to launch and distribute the large sedan to its dealer network.

Cadillac Society has kept a close eye on the development of the next-gen CT6. A few months ago, we reported exclusive details regarding the luxury sedan. We then spotted a few prototypes undergoing testing. Since then, some photos were leaked from within the Jinquiao Cadillac China plant, where the current CT6 is produced. The same facility will also assemble the next-gen model.

Under the hood, the current-generation Cadillac CT6 harnesses the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY) in China, which produces 233 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated exclusively to the luxury marque’s 10-speed automatic transmission. While not yet confirmed, it’s likely that the next-gen CT6 will retain this powertrain, while likely adding a mild hybrid setup.

At this time, we are not aware of any plans to offer the second-gen Cadillac CT6 outside of China, which is a sad and unfortunate reality, in our opinion. As a reminder, the first-gen CT6 was discontinued for the North American market back in 2020.

  1. A shame this car is not available in the rest of the World. In China and nothing, is exactly the same.

  2. It is really amazing that Cadillac has such red tape and stupidity. The CT6 belongs in the United States, not China! I am starting to believe that likes getting walked all over by the Japs. The country that could only make tiny cars and 4 cylinders are now pushing much bigger cars, though it took them over 40 years to figure it out, while GM is cutting all cars, sedans and most sports cars for the useless cross-overs and SUV’s. It is really a sad situation.

  3. I whole hardly agree. We should let them build and sell the CT6. I would sell a body part for the escala. That car is just good looking all over. Build the escala Cadillac and all is forgiven. We make the best looking concept cars for the photos and then put them in a museum. What is the point.
