First Pictures Of 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Engine

Behold the very first pictures of the engine compartment of the upcoming 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing ultra-high-performance luxury sedan, brought to you by Cadillac Society.

The mighty motor, which is somewhat covered by a prominent strut tower brace, is the supercharged 6.2L V8 gasoline Small Block (production code LT4), which was previously used in the third-generation CTS-V. Its aspiration has been modified for use in the CT5-V Blackwing, where it now produces 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque – a considerable advance over the 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque it made in the earlier car.

The engine is mated to the six-speed manual gearbox – supplied by Tremec and featuring 3D printed parts. A 10-speed automatic transmission is optional. All that power goes to the rear wheels only; the less powerful Cadillac CT5-V is offered with all-wheel-drive, but the Blackwing model doesn’t have it for a reason.

With the automatic transmission, the CT5-V Blackwing has a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of around 200 mph.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is priced to start at $84,990, but it the price can grow to $121,895 by ordering all the available options. These include the automatic transmission, a carbon-fiber aero package, and a Brembo carbon-ceramic brake package, to name a few.

Check out that strut tower brace!

As of this writing, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is scheduled to go into production on July 5th 2021 at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. On February 1st, Cadillac opened reservations for the first 250 examples, offering the first vehicle serial numbers, a certificate of authenticity and a session at the Cadillac V-Performance Academy in Nevada in return for a deposit of $1,000. In a show of enthusiasm rarely seen even for a car as dramatic as this, all 250 reservations were snapped up within three minutes.
