We’ve seen quite a few Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing limited editions since the super sedan entered the market for the 2022 model year. However, at 26 units, the new F1 Collector Series Edition is the rarest of them all.
Unlike previous special versions, which were all appearance packages, the F1 Collector Series actually has more in terms of performance. Compared to the standard 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque, the CT5-V Blackwing F1 Edition puts out a more robust 685 horsepower with 673 pound-feet of torque – an increase of 17 horses and 14 pound-feet of torque.
What’s more, all 26 Cadillac F1 Blackwings will be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission.
“The CT5-V Blackwing embodies the very best of Cadillac track-capable performance. With the F1 Collector Series, we’re channeling the energy and innovation of Formula 1 into a road-ready sedan that feels every bit as special as our entry into the sport,” said Mark Reuss, President of Cadillac parent, General Motors. “Each of the 26 vehicles is curated to be a centerpiece in any collection and a true celebration of Cadillac’s new era in Formula 1.”
Cadillac says the power bump is “courtesy of an upgraded supercharger, developed in collaboration with GM Motorsports,” a befitting component for a model inspired by the luxury marque’s most recent motorsport conquest. This should appease those of us who have previously criticized the automaker for releasing limited edition models that, for the most part, featured purely cosmetic enhancements that didn’t actually improve the performance of the vehicle.
Other CT5-V Blackwing F1 Collector Series highlights include an exclusive Midnight Stone Frost exterior finish along with Carbon Flash Metallic wheels, Harbor Gray Metallic brake calipers, and a Switchblade Silver pinstripe along the exterior carbon fiber components. There are also gloss black badges, monochrome Cadillac crests, and endorsed F1 and FIA logos sprinkled throughout the vehicle.
Pricing has not yet been announced, but that’s probably irrelevant since – in the event that you’re lucky enough to even find one – any available unit will likely come standard with a hefty dealer markup.
