2025 Cadillac Lyriq Ditches Base Tech Trim

Introduced to give the Lyriq a lower starting price, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Tech trim level was equipped with fewer features than its higher-tiered counterparts. Now, Cadillac Society has learned that the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq is doing away with the base Tech trim in an effort to streamline the lineup – and to further control costs.

The trim walk for the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq now consists of Luxury 1, Sport 1, Luxury 2, Sport 2, Luxury 3, and Sport 3 models, eliminating the Tech trim completely from its lineup. The Tech trim was likely deleted in the interest of reducing the part count for the luxury electric crossover, which will in turn cut costs.

There’s also no need for a less expensive variant of the Cadillac Lyriq now that the Cadillac Optiq luxury electric crossover is almost here. Pricing for the 2025 Optiq with an AWD powertrain starts at $54,000 USD, several thousand lower than the $58,590 starting price for the rear-wheel-drive 2024 Lyriq Tech.

In order to keep its price low, the Lyriq Tech was not equipped with quite a few features found in other Lyriq trims. This includes (but is not limited to) the following goodies:

  • Super Cruise
  • Active Noise Cancellation
  • AKG Studio 19-speaker audio system
  • Multi-color ambient lighting
  • Heated steering wheel and ventilated seats
  • Front-seat massage
  • Slimline LED headlights and taillamps with choreography
  • Rainsense wipers
  • Black roof option
  • Hands-free power liftgate

While it will lose the Tech trim, as previously reported by Cadillac Society, the 2025 Cadillac Lyriq lineup is also expected to include the hotted-up Cadillac Lyriq-V. When it launches, this model will be the most powerful Lyriq to date.

The 2025 Cadillac Lyriq rides on the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform. Production is handled at the Cadillac Spring Hill plant in Tennessee.
