The Cadillac Society Take
After five consecutive quarters in the green, Cadillac sales swung into the red for the fourth quarter of 2023. This setback marks an end to Cadillac’s positive streak in its home market. This decline reflects the impact of the UAW strike on the marque’s deliveries compared to a strong Q4 2022, as well as fewer sales days (76) compared to the same period in the year-ago quarter (at 78).
The drop during the fourth quarter is the result of widespread double-digit declines in the marque’s sedans and crossover utility vehicles, both of which suffered significant reductions in sales volume. Reductions in Cadillac XT5 and XT4 volumes particularly stand out, each sapping almost 2,000 units on a year-over-year basis. The Cadillac CT5 followed the XT5 and XT4 with the third-biggest drop, while combined sales of the Cadillac Escalade fell slightly compared to the 10,568 total deliveries recorded during Q4 2022.
By contrast, the 3,820 Cadillac Lyriq deliveries represent its best-ever quarterly sales. The all-electric crossover ended 2023 with the highest growth rate for the 2023 calendar year thanks to a dramatic four-digit increase. This was made possible by increased production levels and, consequently, greater availability in dealerships. Of all Lyriq deliveries, 6,838 Lyriqs were sold during the second half of the 2023 calendar year alone.

I’m not sure how Cadillac expects to sell cars that it doesn’t advertise. Advertising works…it ain’t rocket science…its Marketing 101, Cadillac need to hire a Vp of marketing that understands the Automotive business and MARKETING. It seems to me that the current incumbent understands neither.
