Cadillac Optiq, Escalade IQ Trademarks Filed In Australia

After decades of absence, Cadillac is poised to make a comeback with its onslaught of electric vehicles to Australia. Just last year, the luxury marque filed to trademark the Lyriq name with the country’s authorities. Now, it seems at least two more Cadillac EVs will potentially be dispatched to Aussie roads, as the luxury marque recently filed to trademark Escalade IQ and Optiq in Australia.

Tagged with number 2370956, the trademark for Cadillac Escalade IQ was filed on July 12th, 2023 with the Intellectual Property Office of Australia, under the Goods and Services category of “Motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles.” As a reminder, the Cadillac Escalade IQ is the forthcoming electric variant of the iconic Escalade SUV, which allows the luxury marque to continue using the readily recognizable nameplate for a future electric vehicle.

Cadillac Escalade IQ prototype

As evidenced by a prototype that Cadillac Society has already spied undergoing testing, the Escalade IQ will look quite different from its ICE-powered counterpart, as it will ride on an entirely different architecture, resulting in a revamped profile and styling cues borrowed from the Cadillac Lyriq to align it with the luxury marque’s electric vehicle lineup.

Meanwhile, the Cadillac Optiq trademark was also filed on July 12th, 2023, and is tagged with number 2370956. Like the filing for Escalade IQ, it’s also under the Goods and Services category of “Motor land vehicles, namely, automobiles.” It’s safe to assume, then, that Cadillac’s newest small crossover is headed for Australia. Most recently, images and information about the vehicle were leaked in China. The EV crossover is strikingly similar to the Lyriq, but also seems to have its own set of elements, such as from the Cadillac XT4.

Cadillac Optiq

At this time, it’s not clear when the Cadillac Escalade IQ and Cadillac Optiq could finally get wheels on the ground in Australia, but we’ll let you know if (or as soon as) it happens.
