Cadillac F1 Team Signs Valtteri Bottas And Sergio “Checo” Pérez

It’s been a long time coming, but the Cadillac F1 race team has finally announced its eagerly anticipated driver lineup. Leading the way in the new team’s debut season are two experienced drivers: Valtteri Bottas and Sergio “Checo” Pérez.

“Bottas and Checo bring the perfect balance of talent, maturity, and drive. They’re not just accomplished racers, they’re builders, collaborators, and professionals who will help define what the Cadillac Formula 1 Team stands for,” said Dan Towriss, CEO of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team and TWG Motorsports. “This moment marks more than just a lineup announcement. It’s the beginning of a bold new chapter in American motorsport.”

Notably, Bottas made his F1 debut over a decade ago in 2013. Since then, the Finnish racer has managed to accrue nearly 70 podium finishes with 10 wins and a second-place F1 world championship finish in the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

“From the moment I began speaking with the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, I felt something different – something ambitious but also grounded,” said Bottas. “This isn’t just a racing project; it’s a long-term vision. It’s not every day that you get a chance to be part of something being built from the ground up and helping shape it into something that truly belongs on the F1 grid.

Meanwhile, Pérez has even more seat time under his belt, having made his F1 debut back in 2011. During that time, the Mexican driver secured almost 40 podium finishes with 6 wins and a second-place F1 world championship finish in 2023.

“From our first conversations, I could sense the passion and determination behind this project. It’s an honor to be part of a building a team that can develop together so that, in time, we will fight at the very front,” said Pérez. “Cadillac is a legendary name in American motorsport, and to help bring such a fantastic company to Formula 1 is a huge responsibility, one I’m confident of taking on.”

Development of the Cadillac F1 team has certainly come a long way from the initial rejection. If overcoming such adversity is any indication of how the team will perform next season, then there’s a lot to look forward to.

In an attempt to capture and portray this story, actor and filmmaker Keanu Reeves is spearheading the production of a new docuseries that focuses on the team’s journey to the starting grid.

Prior to the driver announcement, the Cadillac F1 team had also unveiled its official logo (shown above), and announced Tommy Hilfiger as its first official brand partner.
