2023 Cadillac XT5 Production Already Underway

The 2023 Cadillac XT5 represents the seventh model year for the luxury crossover, and it will bring just a handful of changes and updates over its 2022 model year predecessor. And now, Cadillac Society has learned that 2023 Cadillac XT5 production is already underway.

Sources tell Cadillac Society that production of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 began on June 10th, 2022. Production takes place at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, where the XT5 is assembled alongside the larger Cadillac XT6 and the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq

Cadillac was initially planning to give the 2023 XT5 a heavy update that would enable the vehicle to live on for another several years. However, plans for this update seem to have been delayed, likely as a result of supply-side setbacks stemming from complications with the COVID-19 pandemic. The current first-generation model joined the luxury marque’s lineup in 2017 when it replaced the second-generation SRX. The XT5 then received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2020 model year.

As a reminder, the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 are powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY) as standard, which is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These models wear the 350T badge on the liftgate. The naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX), rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, is optional on the Premium Luxury trim and standard on the Sport trim. These models can be identified by the 400 badge on the liftgate. Both engine options bolt to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission, and offer front-wheel-drive as standard or all-wheel-drive as an option. The Sport trim, however, features all-wheel-drive as standard.

It’s worth noting that several features have been withheld from units of the 2022 model year Cadillac XT5. These include heated steering wheelfront and rear park assist features, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. At this time, it’s still not clear when these features will return to the XT5.
