2023 Cadillac Lyriq To Be Introduced Next Week In China

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is already generating a lot of attention, as recently confirmed by the number of “hand raisers” registering interest in the United States. Now, the luxury marque is getting ready to launch the luxury electric crossover at a special event in China next week, officially opening up reservations for the Chinese market.

The event is scheduled to take place on November 17th, 2021. It will be publicly broadcast online, where the series production model will be shown. Last month, Cadillac announced it would soon open reservations in the Asian country, which accounts for the luxury marque’s largest market by sales volume.

The online broadcast will serve as a prelude to the Lyriq’s live debut at the 2021 Guangzhou International Motor Show, taking place from November 19th through the 28th. Earlier this year, the Cadillac Lyriq show car made its debut at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, marking the electric crossover’s first official public introduction.

The Lyriq’s Chinese-market online introduction and reservation period follows that of the United States and Canada by several months, but the luxury EV is expected to go on sale in China early next year before doing so in North America

The Lyriq will be manufactured at the Jinqiao Cadillac plant in Shanghai for the Chinese market. A handful of units have already rolled off the assembly line and are bound for road validation tests. For North America, the Lyriq will be assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee

Representing Cadillac’s first battery electric vehicle, the 2023 Lyriq will ride on the all-new BEV3 platform and will be powered by a single rear-mounted Ultium Drive motor fed by the 100.4 kWh lithium-ion Ultium battery pack. Total system power is rated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Cadillac estimates that the 2023 Lyriq will have 300 miles of driving range from a full charge. A more powerful model with all-wheel-drive is expected to launch later on in the model’s lifecycle.
