2023 Cadillac Lyriq Reservations Will Open Soon In China

Reservations for the all-new, fully-electric 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will open soon for customers in China, Cadillac Society has learned.

In the United States, the 1,500 reservation slots for the Lyriq Debut Edition filled up in just over ten minutes after the system went online in September, and wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine a similar scenario taking place in China,  which is Cadillac’s biggest market by sales volume globally.

The Cadillac Lyriq was officially revealed in China this April during the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, giving potential buyers a glimpse at Cadillac’s first-ever fully-electric crossover as well as Cadillac’s first-ever electric vehicle of any kind. In fact, the Lyriq is scheduled to launch in China before the United States, thanks in part to more streamlined plant retooling to produce the new EV.

“The Lyriq will set the standard for the future of Cadillac with a stunning, EV based design,” recently-appointed vice president of Cadillac China, Chris Biggs, said in a statement. “It will leverage over a century of innovation to reward customers with a more personal, connected and immersive ownership experience.”

The Lyriq will be manufactured at the Jinqiao Cadillac plant in Shanghai for the Chinese market. A handful of units have already rolled off the assembly line and are bound for road validation tests.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will ride on the all-new BEV3 platform and will be powered by a single rear-mounted Ultium Drive motor fed by the 100.4 kWh lithium-ion Ultium battery pack. Total system power is rated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Cadillac estimates that the 2023 Lyriq will have 300 miles of driving range from a full charge.

Reservations for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq in China are scheduled to open in the middle of the fourth quarter of 2021 before the luxury electric crossover officially goes on sale in the Chinese market in early 2022.
