Production of the 2022 Cadillac CT4 and 2022 Cadillac CT5 will begin on October 18th, 2021, at the Lansing Grand River Plant in Michigan, Cadillac Society has learned.
Production of both Cadillac sedans at the Lansing Grand River facility was idled on May 10th due to the ongoing microchip shortage. Zero units of the CT4 or CT5 rolled off the line in June, but the plant resumed activity in a limited capacity in the beginning of July, when the first production model of the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing and CT4-V Blackwing entered production.
In other words, production of the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing ultra-high-performance sedans started before that of the “regular” CT4 and CT4-V as well as the CT5 and CT5-V. Manufacturing of the 2021 models is expected to resume on August 30th and to continue until switching to the 2022 model year in mid-October.
Initially, Cadillac expected to resume full-scale operations at Lansing Grand River on August 5th, but those plans were pushed back as a result of the ongoing microchip shortage.
The 2022 model year is expected to bring minor changes to Cadillac CT4 and CT5 luxury sedans, including new colors and modifications to the equipment in all trim levels. One of these changes is the deletion of the NFC smartphone pairing feature, as previously reported by Cadillac Society.
The Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans ride on variants of the critically-acclaimed Alpha rear-wheel-drive vehicle architecture and are available with several engine options.
The CT4 features the turbocharged 2.0L I4 (production code LSY), rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, as standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trim levels. The turbocharged 2.7L I4 (production code L3B) is optional on the CT4 Premium Luxury (310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque) and standard on the CT4-V (325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque). Meanwhile, the CT4-V Blackwing is powered by the twin-turbo 3.6L V6 (production code LF4) making 442 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque.
The CT5 features the 2.0L I4 (production code LSY), rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, as standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trim levels. The twin-turbo 3.0L V6 (production code LGY) is optional on the CT5 Premium Luxury (335 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque) and standard on the CT5-V (360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque). The CT5-V Blackwing is powered by the supercharged 6.2L V8 (production code LT4) making a whopping 668 horsepower and 669 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful Cadillac in history.
