Cadillac Formula 1 Team Finally Clocks Its First Laps At Silverstone

The Cadillac Formula 1 Team has finally clocked its first laps, stoking the anticipation of fans of F1 and the luxury marque alike. With Sergio “Checo” Pérez in the driver’s seat, the luxury marque’s race car dawned a menacing all-black finish as it carved its way through the 18 turns at Silverstone Circuit in England.

“Today was really an amazing day,” said Pérez. “Everyone should feel incredibly proud to complete our first laps as a team. Each and every person has worked so hard to get to this moment and it was emotional to be part of motorsport history. We can, and should, all enjoy, but it’s absolutely fired me up for more. I just want to get back in and get mileage – this is just the start.”

“Today represents countless hours of hard work, commitment and belief from everyone involved in the team,” added Team Principal Graeme Lowdon. “It shows the progress we’re continuing to make in a short space of time. It’s been a great opportunity for the team to gel in a live garage environment, verify car systems and resolve any initial issues. But it’s just the beginning of the road; we now turn our attention to pre-season testing in just a few weeks’ time, which will provide even more opportunity to learn.”

The test session not only provided the team with an opportunity to refine and troubleshoot ahead of the Barcelona Shakedown at the end of the month, it also gave Cadillac a chance to catch the new race car on camera.

Although it looked fantastic in black, we’re curious to see the final livery. Cadillac will pull the cover off of the final livery shortly after Shakedown Week on February 8th, during Super Bowl LX. The first race of the season is scheduled for roughly a month after, in Melbourne.
