Bound exclusively for the Chinese market, the second-gen Cadillac XT5 was revealed in late August. Aside from the obvious aesthetic differences between the all-new luxury crossover and the first-gen model, its exterior dimensions reveal that it’s physically larger than its predecessor.
The official spec sheet for the forthcoming Cadillac XT5 tells us that the luxury crossover measures in at 192.5 inches in length, 77 inches in width, and 66.7 inches in height. That’s three inches longer than the first-gen model, 2.1 inches wider and 0.8 inches taller. We delve into the details on the Cadillac Society Podcast, embedded below.
The three-inch increase in length can be attributed to its front and rear bumper treatments. The extra width, meanwhile, is due to the notably wider wheel arch moldings, also known as fender flares, which enables wider tracks. Note that the body itself is no wider than the first-gen model.
Meanwhile, the wheelbase is 0.2 inches longer to 112.7 inches, and the tracks are quite a bit wider, measuring in at 66.4 inches (+1.6 inches) in the front and 66.3 inches (+1.5 inches) in the rear, enabled by the updated C1 platform known internally as C1-2.
All this makes the all-new XT5 appear more planted and aggressive than its predecessor, lending it a sportier, meaner expression. This is further accentuated by flat bodylines, which deviate from the forward slant that the first-gen XT5 inherited from the discontinued Cadillac SRX.

As previously reported by Cadillac Society, the XT5 gets an overhauled interior, including a 33-inch curved infotainment display that is almost identical to the screen found in the Cadillac Lyriq and the refreshed Cadillac XT4, along with new materials, door cards, and other details.
Cadillac Society sources indicated that GM’s initial plans included offering the second-gen XT5 only in China, though the automaker did consider bringing it to North America. However, we are not aware of any plans to make this model available outside China as of this writing.

What a great vehicle this would be for us American customers who DO NOT WANT an electric vehicle but would love a Cadillac. The move to ALL ELECTRIC will be the downfall of Cadillac. We lease a 2022 XT5 Premium Luxury which we love. However, when the lease is up its gone and we are moving to either Lexus, Audi, BMW or Mercedes who are SMART enough to continue to offer ICE vehicles in addition to EV’s. Cadillac EV sales are NOT setting the world on fire. Too expensive if you want a lot of options, the range is too short for people who travel, the re-sale value is unknown. Change now, or out of business by the end of Trump’s upcoming presidency.

Oh it’s way beyond a budget deficit. More like national debt. But I fail to see the correlation between not buying a Cadillac and national debt. The product one chooses to buy has zero impact on national debt.
What has much more impact is ending extracurricular spending, such as international wars and an obese MIC. This will quickly pay off national debt, preventing anyone’s children from inheriting anything bankrupt. That way, we can all have the freedom to buy whichever products we like.

What does “woke” have to do with offering a car only in China? I have seen recent cabinet pick decisions become a total and cruel joke that the world is laughing about, but despite my being upset at many of GM’s decisions like many of us are, they are a trimmed down auto company and their choice to offer a model of SUV to only a certain market is a business one, probably based on incorrect industry assumptions about the desireabilty of electric vehicles. Giving up the Malibu to an electric only future Malibu is THE biggest wrong decision, as now Chevy and Buick have no gas powered cars, save for expensive Caddy’s. Don’t see how they can give up the entire low and mid priced car market to others. This is making other competitors very happy.

Why do you keep writing articles on the 2025 Gen2 XT5 and explaining why there is no longer any production capacity at the Tennessee plant and that it’s only going to be sold in China. It only pisses me off knowing that Cadillac no longer cares about my loyalty and what the customer wants. You can park those Lyrics next to the Edsels on the used car lot.

It is frustrating to see that upper management is acting completely independent from the market and the customer. Offices in New York, no more a brand new CT6, all electric only etc. Here in Germany they only sold the XT5 for three years and now the same seems to happen with the XT4. They shut off the ON-Star system completely for all GM-vehicles ever sold before April 2019 in December 2020.(because they had sold carmaker Opel to France). They fool the customer where ever they can. Now they are “coming back” with EVs only. I have a XT5 (with On-Star not working) and a 76 Eldorado Bicentennial (fantastic) and would love the get the new XT5 above. But it won’t happen and I don’t trust them anymore.

The US government bailed out GM and now they bail on us. Forcing people to go electric will be Mary Barra’s downfall. Also, I understand that there is a decline for GM in the Chinese market. Poor planning. This car is needed in the US.

I would have seriously considered a second gen XT5 if available in Canada love my 2018 but letting the North American market down Big mistake not sure what to purchase next I guess I will continue to drive my XT5 until GM comes to there senses.
