Some Cadillac Lyriq, XT5 And XT6 Crossovers Have An Unpainted Rear Door

Cadillac parent, General Motors, has released a Service Update impacting certain units of the Cadillac Lyriq, Cadillac XT5 and Cadillac XT6, which may have unpainted rear doors.

Tagged as N242449880, this Service Update states that some units of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, 2024 Cadillac XT5 and 2024 Cadillac XT6 were shipped without with unpainted interior rear doors. The fix is simple – dealership technicians are instructed to inspect affected vehicles and recoat the inner doors as necessary. This procedure will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners and is expected to take 2.5 hours to complete.

At this time, Cadillac has not revealed how many vehicles are affected by this issue.

As a reminder, the gasoline-powered Cadillac XT5 and XT6, as well as the all-electric Lyriq share a production facility at the Cadillac Spring Hill plant in Tennessee. The 2024 Cadillac XT5 and 2024 Cadillac XT6 both soldiered on without any major changes or updates compared to prior model years, and for a while, their futures seemed murky beyond the 2024 model year.

Cadillac Society was the first to report that both luxury crossovers would, in fact, be offered as 2025 model year vehicles in North America after all. However, both the XT5 and XT6 continue on without major change in North America, although China will get the all-new second-gen XT5 and an updated XT6

Meanwhile, the outlook for the Cadillac Lyriq electric luxury crossover looks bright. For the 2024 model year, the Lyriq gained a completely revamped trim level lineup, which now consists of the new base Tech trim, Luxury, and Sport. Like the 2023 model, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq can be outfitted with either a single Ultium Drive motor on the rear axle, while a second Ultium Drive motor can be added to the front axle for an all-wheel-drive configuration that’s substantially more powerful.
