2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ Will Feature Four-Wheel Steering

Set for a debut by the end of the 2023 calendar year, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ will soon electrify the iconic luxury SUV nameplate. Cadillac Society spotted a prototype of the electric luxury SUV undergoing testing, shortly after a teaser was released by the luxury marque itself. Now, we’ve learned of a new detail that will make the Escalade IQ a feat of technology and luxury: it will feature four-wheel steering (4WS).

As a reminder, four-wheel steering provides several benefits for any vehicle it’s outfitted on. First, 4WS decreases a vehicle’s turning radius, which is helpful when it comes to maneuvering the vehicle at low speeds and in small spaces, such as in parking lots and parking garages. Second, the feature enhances driving dynamics at high speeds, particularly on winding and twisty roads where extra handling prowess might be required.

In fact, the Escalade IQ’s corporate cousin sharing the BT1 platform, the GMC Hummer EV SUV, already features 4WS. Notably, the addition of this technology in the Hummer EV SUV reduces its turning radius from 42 feet to 35.4 feet. For reference, the current ICE-powered Escalade has a turning diameter of 39.7 feet, although it’s worth noting that the Escalade IQ will have a completely different footprint than the current Escalade.

While the Cadillac Escalade IQ has yet to be revealed in full by the luxury marque, Cadillac Society recently covered what we know and expect from the forthcoming luxury SUV thus far. The Escalade IQ will feature lighting signatures reminiscent of the Cadillac Lyriq out front, with similarly arranged forward facing lamps and an LED “grille” display, while maintaining the iconic vertical lighting treatment of all Escalades out back. Meanwhile, the cockpit will feature a generous coast-to-coast infotainment screen, much like the one found in the refreshed 2024 Cadillac XT4 and Cadillac Lyriq.

As for power, the 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ will harness Ultium batteries and Ultium Drive motors. It’s likely that rear-wheel-drive via a single motor mounted on the rear axle will be standard. Adding a second motor to the front axle will facilitate all-wheel-drive. As first reported by Cadillac Society, the luxury EV SUV could travel over 400 miles on a single charge.
