Cadillac CT4 Now Receiving Heated Steering Wheel Retrofits

Heated steering wheels were withheld from quite a few vehicles in Cadillac’s lineup due to the global semiconductor shortage, including certain units of the Cadillac CT4. The feature wasn’t gone for very long from the luxury sedan, though, becoming available to order on new units of the CT4 in May 2022. Now, Cadillac Society has learned that those who purchased a CT4 assembled without the feature intact can have it retrofitted.

The luxury marque is currently in the process of contacting owners of affected Cadillac CT4 units with instructions to have the heated steering wheel (production code KI3) installed and activated. To support the feature, the steering wheel assembly must be removed and replaced with an updated one by a dealership technician. This procedure will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Affected units of the Cadillac CT4 were assembled at the Cadillac Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan between December 6th, 2021 and March 27th, 2022. When available, the heated steering wheel was available as follows:

  • CT4 Luxury: offered only as part of the optional Cold Weather Package (production code Y19)
  • CT4 Premium Luxury: offered only as part of Climate Package (production code Y6F)
  • CT4 Sport and CT4-V: offered only as part of the Cold Weather Package or Climate Package

As a reminder, the standard engine in the Cadillac CT4 350T is the turbocharged 2.0L I4 (production code LSY), rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This boosted four-cylinder is standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trim levels.

Meanwhile, the turbocharged 2.7L I4 (production code L3B) is optional on the CT4 Premium Luxury, rated at 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. This model can be identified by the 500T badge on the decklid. The CT4-V is powered by the same engine in a slightly different state of tune, where it’s rated at 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque.

Models with the 2.0L turbo engine are mated to the 8-speed automatic transmission, while those with the 2.7L turbo engine get the 10-speed gearbox. All aforementioned CT4 trims are offered in either rear- or all-wheel drive.
