Due to the ongoing global microchip shortage, the availability of heated seats has been limited on many Cadillac vehicles, including units of the 2022 and 2023 Cadillac CT5 luxury sedan. However, the luxury marque indicated that it would retrofit the feature in vehicles that did not have it once supply allowed. Now, Cadillac Society has learned that owners of affected CT5 or CT5-V units that were built without heated or ventilated seats are now eligible to have the feature retrofitted.
The retrofitting procedure will be performed at no cost to the vehicle owner. Dealers are instructed to replace the front seat heater control module, reprogram the body control module, and for some vehicles, reprogram the HVAC control module. Some vehicles may require an additional retrofit of the left and right front seat cushion ventilation blower in order to restore functionality of the ventilated seat feature.
It is important to understand that the aforementioned procedure does not address the constraint of the front driver and passenger ventilated seat cushion blower motor, which will be addressed in a separate customer satisfaction bulletin in the future. All units of the 2023 Cadillac CT5 or CT5-V that were assembled between July 18th and September 4th were built without this feature.
Riding on the luxury marque’s Alpha 2 platform, the 2023 Cadillac CT5 offers three gasoline engine choices. The turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, is standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trim levels. Models with this engine are identified by the 350T badge on the decklid. The twin-turbo 3.0L V6 (production code LGY) is optional on the CT5 Premium Luxury, where it makes 335 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. Models with this engine are denoted by the 550T badge. Rear-wheel-drive is standard across all models, while all-wheel-drive is optional for an extra fee.
The Cadillac CT5-V, meanwhile, draws power from turbocharged 3.0L V6 gasoline engine (production code LGY) rated at 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. Its availability for the 2023 model year will be extremely limited.
