The Cadillac Society Take

Cadillac South Korea sales decreased substantially in July, marking the third consecutive month that the luxury marque has posted a double-digit drop in the market. The negative behavior is a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused various negative impacts to the auto industry. For Cadillac Korea – which imports its vehicles from the United States – those issues have primarily revolved around an insufficient availability of imported vehicles.

Cadillac’s negative sales performance in July was primarily driven by large declines in sales of the XT5 and Escalade, its two best-selling nameplates in July 2019. However, it is worth noting the solid performance of the new Cadillac XT6, along with the surprising growth in Cadillac CT6 sales. The large sedan has regained its position as Cadillac’s best-selling model in South Korea for both the month of July as well as for the first seven months of the 2020 calendar year. Ironically, CT6 sales started to rise after CT6 production ended in February.
