The Cadillac Society Take

The notable downturn in Cadillac XT4 sales during Q2 2024 are a bit surprising considering the luxury crossover recently underwent a midcycle refresh that made it substantially more competitive in the space. However, the XT4 faces tough competition from the likes of Lexus and Acura.

The midcycle refresh signals that Cadillac is interested in continuing to sell the XT4 for some time to come, despite Cadillac’s push for electrification. In that regard, the all-electric Cadillac Optiq is on its way to eventually replace the Cadillac XT4.

It’s worth noting that the 2025 Cadillac XT4, which carries over largely unchanged from the refreshed 2024 model, could soon become a hot commodity. While production of the luxury crossover, which takes place at the Cadillac Fairfax plant in Kansas, is underway after a minor delay, the XT4 will likely become scarce during the 2025 calendar year. That’s because XT4 production will be temporarily halted next year as the facility is retooled to support production of the next-generation Chevy Bolt EV, which is on track for a 2026 model year launch. The XT4 will be produced alongside the Bolt when retooling is finished at Fairfax, though it’s possible that sales numbers will reflect decreased production in the near coming quarters.

  1. This one has me puzzled, this segment is growing due to demand, in my area anyway, dealers can’t keep enough of them on the lot. Makes wonder if Cadillac is able to produce higher volumes of XT4 units or if there’s something missing that customers look for.
