2025 Cadillac XT4 Production Start Pushed Back

While Cadillac initially planned to commence production of the 2025 Cadillac XT4 in June 2024, it looks like it won’t start rolling off the assembly line until the following month.

Cadillac Society recently learned that the start of regular production (SORP) of the 2025 Cadillac XT4 at the Cadillac Fairfax plant in Kansas, which supplies the North American market, has been pushed back to July 26th, 2024. As usual, this date is tentative and subject to change at any time.

Additionally, it’s important to note that production of the Cadillac XT4 will be halted for most of the 2025 calendar year. This is because the Fairfax plant will undergo retooling in order to support production of a product from Cadillac parent company, General Motors. More specifically, that model is none other than the next-gen Chevy Bolt EV. When the plant reopens, the XT4 will be produced right alongside the Bolt EV, although until then, the closure will result in workforce layoffs.

As a reminder, the XT4 was refreshed for the 2024 model year, gaining a redesigned front and rear fascia and overhauled interior featuring a large curved infotainment display lifted directly from the Cadillac Lyriq. The 2025 Cadillac XT4 gains a few notable updates over its predecessor. This includes the deletion of the base Luxury trim, meaning that the Premium Luxury is the new entry level trim level, while adding the Active Safety Package (production code AS2) as standard rather than a standalone, extra-cost option.

Under the hood, the 2025 Cadillac XT4 continues to be powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), which is rated at 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Output is routed through the nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive is standard while all-wheel-drive is optional. While we do have 2024 XT4 pricing info, we have yet to get our hands on it for the 2025 model year.
