Super Bowl LX has come and gone, sparking plenty of conversations in its wake. One major stand-out moment for car enthusiasts and racing fans came in the form of a 60-second clip titled “The Mission Begins”, wherein the Cadillac F1 Team’s racing livery made its official debut, treating fans to a balanced black-and-white gradient display.
The complex design is offset by the simple color palette (or lack thereof). The livery features a prominent, monochrome Cadillac emblem (as expected), as well as TWG AI branding. Meanwhile, most of the car dons sponsor logos, including Jim Beam, Tenneco, Gainbridge, and Tommy Hilfiger.
The ad itself channeled the nation’s patriotic ambitions, utilizing soundbites from John F. Kennedy’s “We choose to go to the Moon” speech. The audio is set to the scenes of the Cadillac F1 race car coming together around a driver, with cuts to the engineers and designers behind the vehicle’s creation. Hit play on the embedded video below to see it for yourself.
The way the car comes together, the action cuts, and references to the moon are very Transformers-like, especially the third film, Dark of the Moon. Interestingly, movie director Michael Bay, who directed the first five Transformers movies, is suing the Cadillac F1 team for allegedly stealing his ideas for the Super Bowl ad. However, that’s a story for another time.
As a reminder, the yin-and-yang race car is set to hit the stage at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne during the first week of March with Valtteri Bottas and Sergio “Checo” Pérez at the helm. Notably, the Cadillac F1 Team already clocked its first laps at Silverstone last month, and has since gone on to run in the pre-season Barcelona Shakedown where it flaunted a special edition all-black livery.
