After a decades-long absence, Cadillac is returning to Australia and New Zealand, with the return spearheaded by a right-hand-drive (RHD) variant of the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq luxury crossover. A RHD variant of the Lyriq was recently seen in Australia, parked in the lot of Sandown Raceway in Melbourne.
The sighting, reported by local publication CarExpert, shows images of the RHD Lyriq from all angles, including a good look at its interior with its RHD setup. The model is painted in Radiant Red Tintcoat (paint code GNT), and features full leather beige seats with perforated inserts and Oxford Stone with Garnet accents (production code H7A). Stateside, this colorway is offered on models in the Luxury 3 trim. It’s not clear if the luxury crossover is a testing unit or customer unit, or why it was in public ahead of its official reveal, which is expected to take place in the next few weeks. In early 2023, a prototype of the RHD Lyriq was spotted undergoing testing in the U.S., signaling that its development for RHD markets like Australia, Japan, and certain European markets was already well underway. Notably, the RHD 2025 Cadillac Lyriq headed for Australia will be produced at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee alongside the left-hand-drive (LHD) variant sold in North America. To enable this, the luxury marque is implementing a production line dedicated to RHD at the facility that will allow it to be produced alongside its LHD counterparts. Once built, the RHD Lyriq will then be exported to Australia.
Aside from RHD, the Oceania-spec Cadillac Lyriq will offer several configurations that set it apart from the U.S.-spec model. For example, it will ride on 21-inch wheels, while U.S.-market Lyriqs are offered with 20- or 22-inch rollers. It will also be exclusively available with all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain that’s good for 515 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque.
The RHD Lyriq will also feature the typical features found in the LHD models, including adaptive LED headlights, a panoramic fixed glass roof with sunshade, a 33-inch infotainment display with 9K resolution, heated front and rear seats, massaging and ventilated front seats, integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and more.
