2025 Cadillac CT5 Won’t Offer A Luxury Trim Level

To say there are quite a few changes and updates on the way for the 2025 Cadillac CT5 would be an understatement. Revealed in September 2023, the luxury sedan boasts a welcome midcycle refresh headlined by a revised front fascia and an overhauled cockpit. There’s at least one more major shift on the horizon for the 2025 CT5, as Cadillac Society has learned that the base Luxury trim has been nixed for 2025.

Since its introduction for the 2020 model year, the “regular” (non-V) CT5 range has been offered in Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trims, following Cadillac’s Y-trim level strategy. Lopping off the Luxury trim from the bottom of the Y means that the 2025 Cadillac CT5 will be available only in Premium Luxury and Sport trims, eliminating the existing entry level model from the trim level hierarchy.

As a result of the change, the 2025 CT5 will have a more expensive starting price point than it did before. While pricing isn’t available for the 2025 model year, the 2024 Cadillac CT5 Premium Luxury starts at $44,290, meaning that it won’t be a surprise if the 2025 CT5 Premium Luxury follows suit and starts in the vicinity of $45K. By comparison, the base 2024 CT5 Luxury starts at $39,790. This expected increase in the base price will also be accompanied by a similar uptick in features and equipment included as standard.

Regardless of price point, the base engine for the refreshed 2025 Cadillac CT5 will remain the standard turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), rated at 237 horsepower 258 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, a power upgrade is offered on the Premium Luxury trim in the form of the optional twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine (production code LGY), rated at 335 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional across all trims. Both engines bolt to the 10-speed automatic transmission.

The deletion of the CT5 Luxury trim level signals that Cadillac is gradually introducing changes to its established Y-trim level structure. As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq actually gained a new base trim called Tech that replaces Luxury as the base trim, while promoting the Luxury trim to replace Premium Luxury.
