The Cadillac Society Take

The decrease in Cadillac Mexico sales during December 2023 becomes the 12th consecutive month that luxury marque’s volume was in the red in the Latin country. Quite expectedly, this brought the marque’s yearly figures into the red. Both drops are a result of sub-optimal inventory levels and muffled demand in the local market.

Once again, all models sold by Cadillac in Mexico saw decreases in sales last month, sapping 48 deliveries from the bottom line on a year-over-year basis. The most significant decrease was that of the Cadillac XT4, which saw sales plummet by almost 96 percent due to insufficient availability. As a reminder, the XT4 received a mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year, but units of the updated model have not yet reached Mexico. In addition, both the Cadillac Escalade and the XT5 each lost 14 units during the final month of the 2023 calendar year.

The new Cadillac Lyriq, meanwhile, finally made an appearance on the sales list in Mexico, seeing its first unit delivered several months after the all-electric crossover was announced in the country. It would appear that more units of the Lyriq have not yet reached Cadillac’s EV dealer network in the country. We expect Lyriq deliveries to be more plentiful in January 2024.
