Cadillac Escalade Buyers To Get Reimbursed For Missing Illuminated Liftgate Sill Plate

Cadillac has issued a Customer Satisfaction Program to address a mistake affecting buyers of the 2023 Cadillac Escalade. Some customers were mistakenly charged for the Illuminated liftgate sill plate when the vehicle actually features a standard (non-illuminated) sill plate in the cargo area, and they will be reimbursed accordingly.

U.S. customers who were invoiced for the Illuminated sill plate but did not receive it with their Escalade will be issued a reimbursement check for $495 USD. Canadian customers, meanwhile, will also receive a reimbursement, but the dollar amount will be determined based on the specific model in question.

As a reminder, the Illuminated liftgate sill plate (production code 5RU) is an optional extra on the 2023 Cadillac Escalade. As a standalone option for all trim levels, it costs $495, and it is also included in the Illumination Package (production code PDW), which is a $1,095 option for Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trims. It’s worth noting that the Illuminated sill plate has not been available to order on the 2023 Cadillac Escalade since early April 2023, and has remained unavailable through the remainder of the 2023 model year.

As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade represents the third model year of the fifth-generation full-size luxury SUV. The Escalade is offered with two engine options. The naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 engine (production code L87), capable of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, is standard, and models with this engine wear the 600 badge on the liftgate.

The second is the 3.0L I6 turbodiesel (production code LM2), rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. These models get the 600D badge on the liftgate. Both engines bolt to Cadillac’s 10-speed automatic transmission driving either the two rear wheels  or all four wheels via the optional 4WD system.

Production of the 2023 Escalade, which was assembled at the Arlington plant in Texas, wrapped up in November 2023 to make way for the 2024 model. The full-size luxury SUV carries on largely unchanged for 2024, but looking ahead, a mid-cycle refresh is waiting in the wings for the 2025 Cadillac Escalade.
