With Honda recently unveiling the 2024 Acura Integra Type S, the Cadillac CT4-V will soon have another competitor in the high-performance four-door sedan space.
The Acura Integra Type S offers upgraded exterior and interior styling over the “regular” Integra, itself new for the 2023 model year. This includes a wider stance with aggressive 2.8-inch blistered fenders, along with a set of three center-mounted exhaust outlets situated beneath a sporty rear diffuser. Up front, the four-door performance sedan sports a set of larger air intakes to help it breathe, along with a hood vent. Customers can also opt for a carbon fiber rear lip spoiler and carbon fiber mirror caps, matching the black illuminated Acura badge up front. Note that the current generation Integra isn’t a sedan per se, but rather a hatchback made to look like a sedan.
Inside, the 2024 Acura Integra Type S features a nine-inch touchscreen, boasting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration technology, along with a unique head-up display and ELS Studio 3D audio system.
As for power, the Acura Integra Type S harnesses the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine, which is also found in the Honda Civic Type R hatchback. This setup produces 320 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, outperforming the “regular” Integra by 120 horsepower and 118 pound-feet of torque. That power is routed via a front-wheel-drive drivetrain, and is transferred through exclusively through a six-speed manual transmission.
Comparatively, the Cadillac CT4-V sources power from the luxury marque’s turbocharged 2.7L I4 engine (production code L3B), which is tuned to deliver 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. That engine bolts exclusively to the luxury marque’s 10-speed automatic transmission (no manual is offered), and power is sent to the pavement via a standard rear-wheel-drive drivetrain or optional (and extra-cost) all-wheel-drive setup.
It’s worth noting that the CT4 can also be had higher performance guise – the CT4-V Blackwing. Powered by a twin-turbo 3.6L V6 engine (production code LF4) rated at 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, the CT4-V Blackwing comes as standard with a six-speed manual transmission, with a ten-speed auto offered as an option. The ultra-high-performance sedan is offered exclusively in rear-wheel-drive form, as all-wheel-drive is not offered.
Scheduled to go on sale in June 2023, the Integra Type S made its debut at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach in California on April 15th and 16th.
