The Cadillac Blackwing ultra-high-performance sedans are the most powerful sedans to ever be offered by the luxury marque, offering track-ready performance right off the showroom floor. As is typically the case for high-performance models, these thrilling super sedans are attracting a younger buyer base than the typical Caddy-badged vehicle.
In a recent media briefing attended by Cadillac Society, Rory Harvey, Vice President of Cadillac, revealed the average age for buyers of both the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. The average age of CT4-V Blackwing buyers is 54, while the CT5-V Blackwing has an average age of 56.
“The good thing with our sedan sales is that the average age in terms of the demographic is reducing, so we are starting to attract a younger demographic,” Harvey said.
Back in late 2021, Cadillac Society reported that the average age of a Blackwing buyer trended lower than that of a “regular” Cadillac vehicle by almost 10 years. At the time, then-Cadillac Chief Engineer, Tony Roma, explained this phenomenon on an episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. “When you really get into [V-Series] and then what we’ve seen already with V-Blackwing is the average age is yet again lower,” he said. “When you get the V-Blackwing, it’s more than 10 years younger than the average Cadillac buyer that’s coming in and buying one of these [Blackwing sedans].”
Given the sheer power packed under the hoods of the two Cadillac Blackwing super sedans, it’s easy to understand why younger buyers are eager to get behind the wheel. As a reminder, the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing is powered by the 3.6L twin-turbocharged V6 (production code LF4), rated at 472 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing harnesses the supercharged 6.2L V8 (production code LT4), delivering a pavement-pounding 668 horsepower and 669 pound-feet of torque. Both engines bolt to either the standard 6-speed manual transmission or the optional 10-speed automatic, delivering power exclusively to the rear wheels.
