After several delays, the elusive 2024 Cadillac Celestiq show car was finally unveiled in July 2022, promising to be the most customizable vehicle in the luxury marque’s lineup to date. Now, the luxury marque has revealed its future flagship sedan in its production form for the 2024 model year.
“Celestiq is the purest expression of Cadillac, acknowledging our incredible history and driving us to a bolder and brighter future,” said Global Vice President of Cadillac, Rory Harvey. “It is a completely bespoke work of automotive art, built around the most advanced and innovative technology that we have ever engineered into an automobile.”
As previously mentioned, each unit of the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq will be specially commissioned and hand-built with materials and details specially selected by the customer, who will work hand-in-hand with their preferred dealer and the Cadillac design team. A plethora of features will be included as standard, such as Magnetic Ride Control, Adaptive Air Suspension, Active Rear Steering for greater dexterity at lower speeds, advanced AWD and a glass roof made of SPD SmartGlass. There will also be select design themes available, as evidenced by a set of trademark filings uncovered by Cadillac Society earlier this year.
In fact, the luxury marque states that the Celestiq includes around 300 approved and pending patented technologies and processes. This will include Ultra Cruise, Cadillac’s advanced driver assist system that will be capable of autonomously handling 95 percent of driving situations. It will also be capable of self auto-parking remotely, allowing the vehicle to park itself when it detects an appropriate parking spot.
The Celestiq will ride on available 23-inch forged aluminum wheels with 23-inch summer-only Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires designed specifically for Cadillac with EV efficiency in mind. And speaking of efficiency, the Ultium technology underpinning the ultra luxury sedan facilitates a 200 kW DC fast charging system that can add up to an estimated 78 miles of range in just 10 minutes at certain charging stations.
In terms of power, the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq features a 111 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive propulsion system. Cadillac estimates its setup will be good for approximately 300 miles of driving range on a single charge while providing a whopping 600 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. The ultra luxury sedan is capable of sprinting from zero to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. It also features Variable Regen on Demand braking technology, capturing energy wasted during the braking process and feeding that energy back into the battery pack, much like the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq.
Inside, the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq boasts a 55-inch pillar-to-pillar diagonal HD screen within the dash, one of five in-vehicle displays. Rear passengers have access to their own 12.6-inch diagonal displays. Additionally, a 41-speaker array relays sound inside the cabin, and hand-finished metalwork creates an artistic interior environment.
The electric ultra luxury sedan will be hand built in very small numbers at the GM Global Technical center, allowing its builders to craft even the most minute detail. To that end, it should come as no surprise that the 2024 Cadillac Celestiq will carry a starting price tag of over $300,000. The ultra luxury sedan is expected to begin production in December 2023.
