It’s no secret that Cadillac, along with its parent, General Motors, have been facing supplier issues, resulting in slowed or even idled production of most model lines. Unfortunately, some of these constraints will carry over over into the next model year, as Cadillac Society has learned that the 2023 Cadillac XT5 does not have the park assist feature when it began rolling off the assembly line.
Front and Rear Park Assist (production code UD5) has been withheld from all units of the luxury crossover since production began on June 10th. Initially, the Front and Rear Park Assist feature was to be included as standard across all XT5 trim levels, but has since been made unavailable across the board due to an undisclosed issue, one that likely stems from the ongoing global microchip shortage. At this time, it’s not clear if the features could be retrofitted in the future, or if buyers of affected XT5 units will receive a credit toward their purchase.
This isn’t the first time Front and Rear Park assist has been constrained on the Cadillac XT5. A similar scenario occurred for the 2022 model year, when we reported back in December 2021 that the feature would be unavailable in most of Cadillac’s crossovers.
As a reminder, the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 are powered by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY) as standard, which is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These models wear the 350T badge on the liftgate. The naturally-aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX), rated at 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, is optional on the Premium Luxury trim and standard on the Sport trim. Models with this engine feature the 400 badge on the liftgate.
Both engine options bolt to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission. On Luxury and Premium Luxury trims, front-wheel-drive is standard while all-wheel-drive is available as an optional upgrade. The Sport trim, meanwhile, features all-wheel-drive as standard.
The XT5 is underpinned by Cadillac’s C1 (pronounced “chi”) platform and production. The vehicle is produced at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee for all markets except for China.
