2023 Cadillac Escalade Four-Way Power Lumbar Seat Adjustment Under Constraint

2023 Cadillac Escalade Four-Way Power Lumbar Seat Adjustment Under Constraint

The 2023 Cadillac Escalade will enter production in mid-July, and Cadillac Society has learned that some units will not be equipped with the four-way power lumbar seat adjustment feature.

Driver and front passenger four-way power lumbar seat adjusters are normally standard across all Cadillac Escalade trim levels. However, the comfort feature is currently constrained from the Escalade Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. These models will be equipped with the two-way power lumbar seat adjustment instead.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade Premium Luxury Platinum, Sport Platinum and Escalade-V trim levels are unaffected by the four-way lumbar adjuster constraint, and will have the feature included.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that the lumbar adjuster feature has been constrained from the luxury marque’s flagship vehicle. A similar scenario took place last year, as the 2022 model year Escalade was assembled without the four-way lumbar seat adjuster as of November 1st, 2021 production.

As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac Escalade represents the third model year of the fifth-generation full-size luxury SUV. The “regular” Escalade is offered with two engine options: the first is the standard, naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 engine (production code L87), capable of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This model wears the 600 badge on the liftgate. The second is the 3.0L I6 turbodiesel (production code LM2), rated at 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, wearing the 600D badge on the liftgate. Both engines options bolt to Cadillac’s 10-speed automatic transmission driving either the two rear wheels  or all four wheels via the optional 4WD system.

Brand new for the 2023 model year is the high-performance Escalade-V, which features the supercharged 6.2L V8 engine (production code LT4), capable of a whopping 682 horsepower and 653 pound-feet of torque, making the Escalade-V the most powerful Cadillac ever built. The supercharged engine bolts to Cadillac’s 10-speed automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels.
