Cadillac XT4 Mid-Cycle Refresh Delayed Once Again

The 2023 model year marks the fifth year for the Cadillac XT4. The small luxury crossover is due for a mid-cycle refresh, but it has been delayed beyond the 2023 model year, as the small CUV has entered production with minimal changes.

This isn’t the first time the mid-cycle refresh for the Cadillac XT4 has been delayed. Initially, Cadillac planned to update the model for the 2022 model year, but that was subsequently delayed until 2023. Now, the refresh has been pushed back until the 2024 model year, Cadillac Society has learned.

In fact, the 2023 Cadillac XT4 started production on June 10th, 2022 at the Cadillac Fairfax plant in Kansas, and will feature only minor differences over the previous model year. The exterior color offerings list has been slightly altered, doing away with Twilight Blue Metallic (paint code GA0), Radiant Silver Metallic (paint code GAN), and Infrared Tintcoat (paint code GSK), while gaining two new hues – Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT) and Argent Silver Metallic (paint code GXD).

The 2023 Cadillac XT4 will retain the same engine offering – the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), which produces 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque under the hood of the luxury crossover. That engine bolts to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel-drive is standard, while all-wheel-drive is available for a premium.

Our spies recently caught the very first prototype of the 2024 Cadillac XT4 refresh undergoing testing. The prototype wore heavy camouflage on the front and rear ends. The front end, in particular, featured a set of horizontally-oriented lighting elements alongside the already-existing vertical lights, a change that would bring the XT4’s design language in line with the latest Cadillac design philosophy.

In addition, the prototype’s cockpit revealed a massive screen similar to the units found in the fifth-generation Cadillac Escalade and new Cadillac Lyriq.

Meanwhile, the Cadillac XT4’s larger sibling, the Cadillac XT5, was also scheduled for a freshening for the 2023 model year, but this has since been delayed as well.
