Software Update Released For 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing

Cadillac has released a software update for the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing super sedan.

A service bulletin distributed by the luxury marque states that certain units of the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing “may have modules that require software updates to improve performance.” The bulletin doesn’t specify which modules this applies to or how their performance affects the vehicle. It’s unlikely that the modules in need of a software update have any negative effect on vehicle performance or that the updates will improve performance. It’s more likely that the update addresses how the various systems and technologies inside the CT5-V Blackwing communicate with one another.

It also doesn’t look like this software update can be performed over-the-air (OTA). Owners of affected vehicles are being instructed to bring their CT5-V Blackwing into the dealership to have the updates completed.

As a reminder, the CT5-V Blackwing is powered by the supercharged 6.2L V8 engine (production code LT4), capable of 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque. That engine bolts to either the standard six-speed automatic transmission or optional 10-speed automatic, throwing power exclusively to the rear two wheels. It was considered the most powerful Cadillac ever built until the title was recently usurped by the Cadillac Escalade-V, which coaxes a few more horses out of the same supercharged 6.2L V8.

For the 2023 model year, a special version of the CT5-V Blackwing was added to the lineup. The 2023 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing 120th Anniversary Edition was created to commemorate the luxury marque’s milestone anniversary. Each unit of this limited edition CT5-V Blackwing features a VIN serialized with a four-digit year important to Cadillac history, along with special plaques inside the vehicle, an exclusive shifter medallion, and other aspects. Just 120 units of this special edition will be produced.

  1. My guess is that the models that come in black with red accents will have their radios perma-locked to heavy metal stations, with an optional Batman stealth mode for evading pursuers.
