2023 Cadillac Lyriq Orders Filled Up Fast, Waitlist Now Open

Order books for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq opened the morning of May 19th, and filled up shortly thereafter. Now, interested customers will be able to place their names on a pre-order waitlist for the all-new electric luxury crossover.

According to Cadillac’s official website, customers who place their names on the Cadillac Lyriq waitlist may have a chance to order a 2023 Lyriq based on availability, or will be granted the first opportunity to pre-order a 2024 model year vehicle. Customers are asked to place a fully refundable $100 deposit in order to be placed on the Lyriq waitlist.

The speedy rate at which the order banks filled up isn’t exactly a surprise. A similar scenario occurred when reservation books opened for the initial units of the Lyriq, known as Debut Edition. The reservation list for those models was filled in a matter of 10 minutes. In fact, it was due to this overwhelming demand of the Debut Edition models that Cadillac elected to forgo a reservation process for the second batch of Lyriq units, instead opening the order books on May 19th. Either way, thanks to the healthy amount of interest in the luxury EV, Lyriq order books are now completely full in both the U.S. and Canada, though Cadillac has not disclosed the amount of actual reservations for the Lyriq Debut Edition or the amount of units it allocated for the ordering process.

The luxury marque states that the Lyriq Debut Edition will go on sale this summer, while the Lyriq RWD is expected to become available in the fall. The Lyriq AWD, meanwhile, is expected to become available in early 2023.

As a reminder, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition was offered exclusively in the Luxury trim level with rear-wheel-drive. The new models, however, will be available in either rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. Power output is 340 horsepower for RWD models and 500 horsepower for AWD models. Pricing for the Lyriq Luxury RWD starts at $62,900, while the Lyriq Luxury AWD starts at $64,900. A broader range of trim levels, such as Premium Luxury and Sport, are expected to become available for the 2024 model year.

So far, the Lyriq is attracting a new and younger customer base, as 68 percent of buyers belong to either Gen X or Gen Y
