Certain 2021 model year Cadillac CT4 and CT5 luxury sedans are eligible for an over-the-air update that adds a new function to the Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver assist feature, Cadillac Society has learned.
The update adds the Automatic Lane Change feature to the CT4 and CT5, which allows a Super Cruise-equipped vehicle to identify and autonomously execute a safe lane change when it detects optimal conditions, while activating and disengaging turn signals when appropriate. It is available for use on 200,000 miles of North American highways where Super Cruise is compatible.
The Automatic Lane Change update is expected to be released sometime this summer. Cadillac has not yet released pricing information for the paid enhancement.
The 2021 Cadillac Escalade is also eligible for the update, which adds Automatic Lane Change as well as towing capability. An approximate 12,000 combined units of the CT4, CT5 and Escalade are eligible for the new Super Cruise capabilities via the over-the-air update.
The base engine for the Cadillac CT4 is the turbocharged 2.0L I4 (production code LSY), rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It’s standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trim levels (badged as 350T on the decklid). The turbocharged 2.7L I4 (production code L3B) is optional on the CT4 Premium Luxury (badged 500T), where it makes 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. The 2.7L turbo engine is standard on the CT4-V, where it’s tuned to deliver 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque.
Meanwhile, the Cadillac CT5 also features the 2.0L I4 (production code LSY) as standard on the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trim levels (badged 350T). The boosted four is rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the twin-turbo 3.0L V6 (production code LGY) is optional on the CT5 Premium Luxury (badged as 550T), where it makes 335 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, and standard on the CT5-V, where it makes 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque.
As a reminder, Super Cruise is available for regular CT4 and CT5 sedans in Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport trim, along with the high performance CT4-V and CT5-V variants. It is not available on either of the ultra-high-performance Cadillac Blackwing sedans – the CT4-V Blackwing or CT5-V Blackwing.
