2022 Cadillac Escalade Rear Seat Media System Constrained

The rear seat entertainment system is no longer offered on certain trim levels of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac Society has learned.

The Rear-Seat Media System (production code UW9) can no longer be equipped on the Escalade Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. When it was available on these trims, the system added $1,995 to the overall vehicle price. Additionally, the system will continue being included as standard on the higher-tier Premium Luxury Platinum and Sport Platinum trim levels. The system is not offered on the Luxury (base) trim level.

It’s not clear what caused Cadillac to no longer offer the feature on Premium Luxury and Sport models, or if retrofitting could be an option in the future. The lack of availability on the two aforementioned trims will apply through the remainder of the 2022 model year.

The Rear-Seat Media System includes a pair of seat-mounted 12.6-inch diagonal color-touch LCD HD screens, Wi-Fi wireless projection capabilities, two Bluetooth headphone sets and two HDMI ports on the back of the center console.

However, as we reported a few days ago, the rear seat entertainment system in the 2022 Cadillac Escalade lost some features, including the ability for rear seat passengers to push a point of interest / location request to the vehicle’s central infotainment screen.

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade Premium Luxury Platinum and Sport Platinum trim levels are the only full-size SUVs produced by Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, that still include the Rear-Seat Media System. The GMC Yukon, along with the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, are no longer offered with the entertainment system on any trim level for the remainder of the 2022 model year.
