The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing offers two optional carbon-fiber packages, dubbed Carbon Fiber 1 Package (production code CFZ) and Carbon Fiber 2 Package (production code CFV). We’re taking an in-depth look at the components included in each of the two Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Carbon Fiber packages, along with their respective pricing info.
Carbon Fiber 1 Package – $4,100
Carbon Fiber 2 Package – $5,230
It’s worth noting that the Carbon Fiber 2 Package on the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing cannot be ordered without the Carbon Fiber 1 Package, meaning that the total cost is $9,330 for those who want to max-out the carbon fiber goodness.
Let’s compare what visual impact the standard and two optional packages have on the vehicle.
While the carbon fiber components can be seen as a cosmetic enhancement, depending on whom you ask, there’s also the performance aspect to consider. According to Cadillac, the wind-tunnel-tested carbon fiber package can reduce lift on a track by 75 percent, compared to the standard aero package.
To clarify, these improvements offered by the carbon fiber packages build on the aerodynamic enhancements already made to the CT5-V Blackwing over its indirect predecessor, the third-generation CTS-V. For instance, air intake airflow is improved by 46 percent compared to the CTS-V. Other improvements include:
As a reminder, the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing made its official debut on February 1st via an online stream. The ultra-high-performance luxury sedan makes use of the supercharged 6.2L V8 engine (production code LT4) delivering 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque exclusively to the rear wheels via either a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 10-speed automatic.
The first 250 reservations of the CT5-V Blackwing, considered Collector Edition models, sold out within mere minutes. The ultra-high-performance luxury sedan went into production in July 2021, and more models are currently being produced at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan.
