Cadillac Lyriq Captures 5,000 Reservations In China

In November 2021, the veil was cast off the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq for its introduction in China. Reservations for the all-new fully-electric luxury crossover opened soon thereafter, and now, we’ve learned that a total of 5,000 individual customers put their names in the books.

The Lyriq has drummed up plenty of interest since its November 17th debut in Shanghai. Reservations were opened immediately afterward, with orders being processed through either the Cadillac dealer network, or via the Cadillac IQ mobile application.

The first edition of the Cadillac Lyriq in China, known as the Luxury Long-Life edition, currently flaunts a price tag of 439,700 CNY (approximately $69,040 USD).

Deliveries of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury Long-Life will begin in mid-2022 in China. The Lyriq was originally expected to ship at the beginning of the year, but the unforeseen persistence of the global microchip shortage forced a delay. For the Chinese market, the Lyriq will be built locally at the Cadillac Jingiao plant. The Spring Hill facility in Tennessee will build the vehicle for North America.

Chinese customers who pre-order their Lyriq before April 2022 will be gifted 10,000 kilometers of free public charging, along with prioritized delivery in mid-2022. Additional bonuses are available through the Cadillac IQ app, based on individual usage and log in frequency. As of this writing, these pre-order perks are only applicable to Cadillac Lyriq customers in China.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is the marque’s first battery electric vehicle. It will ride on the all-new BEV3 platform and will be powered by a single rear-mounted Ultium Drive motor fed by the 100.4 kWh lithium-ion Ultium battery pack. Total system power is rated at 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. Cadillac estimates that the 2023 Lyriq will have 300 miles of driving range from a full charge. China’s own Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle, however, puts the range at approximately 650 kilometers, equivalent to just over 400 miles.
