Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, has released a service update to address possible valve lifter issues in the 2021 Cadillac Escalades equipped with the 6.2L V8 engine (production code L87).
The problem: affected vehicles may have, or may potentially experience, a broken valve lifter lock pin spring.
The hazards: a broken valve lifter lock pin spring does not pose an immediate safety risk to vehicle occupants. However, the condition could lead to various engine problems. Affected vehicles may present with symptoms such as a check engine light, a misfire, a concerning engine noise, and possible engine damage.
The fix: a dealership technician will replace all valve lifters on all cylinder banks in affected vehicles.
