Here’s The First 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing To Be Produced

The first production 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing has been built. The first ultra high-performance sedan officially rolled off the assembly line at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan, Cadillac Society has learned.

The first CT5-V Blackwing to roll off the line is coated in Shadow Metallic exterior paired with a Natural Tan with Black Accents interior colorway. A closer look reveals this model is equipped with the optional 10-speed automatic transmission, as opposed to the six-speed manual transmission. That transmission bolts up to the supercharged 6.2L LT4 engine, rated at a whopping 668 horsepower and 669 pound-feet of torque.

The first CT5-V Blackwing was finished on July 7th, 2021, and was the first of 12 units bearing the Blackwing moniker to leave the assembly line at Lansing Grand River that day. That number is comprised of both CT5-V and CT4-V Blackwing models.

This particular production model is already spoken for, and has been since March, where it was auctioned off at a Barrett-Jackson event earlier in the year. It sold for a cool $265,000 before it was even built, with the buyer bidding on the coveted VIN 001 build slot.

Cadillac Society has yet to uncover the identity of the buyer of this vehicle. It’s been noted that NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick has a particular interest in first-edition vehicles produced by Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, but his involvement in the purchase of this particular example has not been confirmed.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing represents the highest-performing and most track-ready iteration of the CT5 line of luxury sedans. It is offered exclusively in rear-wheel-drive, and interested buyers and fans can check out the configurator on Cadillac’s website to build and price their perfect car.
