From a segment share standpoint, the Cadillac XT4 accounted for 8 percent share, down from 10 percent in Q4 2019. Meanwhile, the Lexus NX claimed 23 percent, the Acura RDX held 17 percent.
It’s worth noting that Mercedes-Benz had a cumulative 13,313 deliveries of the GLA-Class and GLB-Class, which are essentially the same vehicle with different bodies. Meanwhile, BMW had 5,903 cumulative deliveries of the X1 and X2, which are also mechanically similar.
The luxury C-crossover segment expanded 1 percent to 87,533 units in Q4 2020, meaning that the 21 percent drop in XT4 sales during the quarter was much steeper than the segment average.
The decline in Cadillac XT4 sales volume comes at a time when the model was just beginning to find its footing in the highly-competitive luxury crossover C-segment, gradually increasing sales volume throughout 2019. The fact that the XT4 sales fell faster than the segment average, result in a drop in segment share from 10 to 8 percent, shows that the vehicle is being outpaced by the competition.
