Cadillac Super Cruise Updates Released For 2018-2024 Vehicles

A new update for the Cadillac Super Cruise system is now available for all 2018 through 2024 model-year vehicles equipped with the luxury marque’s semi autonomous driver assist technology.

The update includes software enhancements related to propulsion control modules and can be installed either wirelessly over-the-air (OTA) or through dealer programming. Cadillac outlines full details in Service Update N232427510.

Specifically, the update affects the propulsion control modules, namely the Engine Control Module (ECM) in internal combustion models, or the Drive Motor Control Module in the case of the Lyriq. Since the changes are to software only, no physical parts are required for the install. Customers with eligible Super Cruise-enabled vehicles are encouraged to check with their local dealer to ensure that their Super Cruise system is updated with the latest improvements.

The Cadillac Super Cruise system debuted in the 2018 CT6 sedan, though it has since made its way to a few other nameplates. The update is available to the following models:

Although the OTA option is rather convenient, owners who’d prefer to let the dealerships handle installation of the update don’t need to worry about long wait times since the installation only takes 12 minutes on vehicles with internal combustion engines. Lyriq owners, on the other hand, can expect a wait time of 24 minutes.

It would seem the most efficient option depends on whether or not one’s vehicle is in need of service. If taking in a vehicle for regular maintenance in the near future is needed, then an extra 12-24 minutes to install the update is negligible. If, however, a reason to bring the vehicle into the dealership anytime soon doesn’t exist, then perhaps owners may elect to install the update on their own. Those who oblige by the latter need not be too concerned, as doing so is a fairly simple, straightforward process.
