Cadillac Lyriq Features Heated Windshield Wipers

Heated windshield wipers provide a solution for the age-old problem faced by drivers in cooler climates, making it easy to prevent the wiper blades from freezing and getting stuck to the windshield. However, the handy feature hasn’t been offered on a Cadillac for quite some time – until the Cadillac Lyriq, that is. The luxury electric crossover boasts technology that helps keep the wipers warm in cold conditions, helping to keep them from adhering to the glass.

It’s important to note that actual wipers on the Cadillac Lyriq are not heated. Rather, the base of the windshield, where the wipers reside (or “park”) when they are not in use, is heated. This is accomplished by way of a defroster similar to what’s found on the rear windows of most vehicles. The heated windshield wiper base (production code CMO) helps keep the Lyriq’s wipers warm and also melts any snow or ice accumulation in the cowling, thereby also removing any obstructions caused by ice or snow.

The heated windshield wiper base was first introduced for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Luxury RWD and AWD models. The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq boasts the feature across all trims, including Tech along with all three tiers of Luxury and Sport.

As a reminder, the Lyriq rides on the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform, and is assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee for all markets except for China. It is offered with two powertrains. The base single-motor setup features one Ultium motor mounted on the rear axle, lending 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque for an estimated 312 miles of driving range. The second is a dual-motor Performance AWD setup that adds a motor to the front axle, resulting in over 500 total system horsepower. Pricing starts at $58,590 for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq Tech RWD.

  2. The Cadillac DTS featured Heated Windshield Washer Fluid in my father’s 2008 DTS Platinum Edition, unfortunately Cadillac had a Recall for The Washer Fluid Reservoir Catching Fire and it had to be Disconnected. I wonder how long the Heated Windshield Wipers will be available until They Find Out they become Melted onto to the Windshield? Lol.
