Cadillac XT4 Recalled In Canada Due To Automatic Lighting Issue

Cadillac parent company, General Motors, has recalled certain units of the Cadillac XT4 in Canada to address an issue with the luxury crossover’s automatic headlamps.

The problem: Canadian regulations state that automatic headlights must illuminate when the ambient lighting level drops below 1,000 lux. However, the automatic headlights in affected vehicles may not illuminate soon enough when darkening outdoor ambient lighting conditions are detected.

The hazards: if the automatic headlamps do not illuminate soon enough, visibility could be reduced, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix: affected units of the Cadillac XT4 will be inspected by a dealership technician, and the body control module (BCM) software will be updated. This service will be performed at no cost to vehicle owners.

Affected components: automatic headlights, body control module.

Affected vehicles:

  • 2021 Cadillac XT4
  • 2024 Cadillac XT4

Number of affected vehicles: a total of 7,738 vehicles are affected by this recall in Canada. It’s important to note that this figure includes not only units of the XT4, but also the 2021 Chevy Blazer, 2021 Chevy Malibu, 2023 Chevy Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon.

Next steps: Cadillac will notify owners of affected vehicles by mail and instruct them to make an appointment with their preferred dealer. Any Canadian owners that are unsure whether or not their vehicle is affected by this recall can visit my.gm.ca/gm/en/recalls and input their VIN to see any active recalls on their vehicle.
