2024 Cadillac Lyriq Gains New Optional Trailer Hitch

Towing with an electric luxury crossover may not be at the top of every customer’s must-have list, but owners of the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq will soon be able to do so thanks to the new optional trailer hitch that’s now available.

Cadillac Society has learned that the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq now offers the optional LPO-level (dealer-installed) trailer hitch (production code SDE). In order to equip said trailer hitch, the trailer hitch closeout panel (production code VLG) is also required. Opting for both aforementioned options is necessary in order to outfit the Lyriq with the optional trailer hitch ball cover (production code 5Y4).

The trailer hitch is offered only on Cadillac Lyriq AWD models outfitted with the trailering provisions option (production code V92), which includes Hitch Guidance (production code CTT) and Hitch View (production code PZ8). Trailering capacity with the aforementioned options is 3,500 pounds, which is right on par with those of the internal combustion-powered Cadillac XT5, which is also capable of hauling 3,500 pounds when equipped with the optional Smart Towing Package.

As a reminder, the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq AWD adds a second motor to the luxury EV crossover’s front axle, bringing its output figures up to 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. The model can travel 307 miles on a single charge when not towing.

The 2024 Lyriq AWD starts at $63,990, making it more affordable than its 2023 model year counterpart. Customers can explore all options and packages available for the 2024 Lyriq using the online configurator that went live early this year.

Riding on the luxury marque’s BEV3 platform, the Cadillac Lyriq is assembled at the Spring Hill plant in Tennessee for all markets except for China.

  1. A trailer hitch? Does it come with a diesel generator? WTF. What idiot would buy a Lyriq to tow anything. Oh, I get it. They must be coming out with a gas Lyriq.
    Morons.

    • Moron, idiot or not, I’m interested as it would let me do occasional light towing. 450 lb ft torque in AWD and rated to tow 3500 lbs. Why not? No, you wouldn’t want to do a cross-country u-haul move. Range would probably be 100-150 miles if you’re lucky.
I tried to add these items to my Lyriq pre-order, but my dealer told me they have not yet been notified of their availability and had no way to order them yet.
