Cadillac CT4, CT5, XT5 Get Evap Emission Purge Pump Warranty Extension

Cadillac has significantly extended the warranty for the evaporative emissions purge pump in 2020 model year Cadillac CT4 and CT5 luxury sedans, as well as 2020 model year XT5 luxury crossovers powered by the 2.0L I4 gasoline engine (production code LSY).

The standard warranty period for emission-related components is two years or 24,000 miles, while the warranty is three years or 36,000 miles in California and California regulation-compliant states. However, the warranty period specifically for the evaporative emissions purge pump has now been extended to 15 years or 150,000 miles from the date that the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership status.

The warranty was extended due to an issue affecting units of 2020 Cadillac CT4, CT5 and XT5 models powered by 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), certain units of which may have a condition that could result in failure of the evaporative emissions purge pump, thereby illuminating the Check Engine Light, also known as the Malfunction Indicator Light, and set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC). In order to fix the problem, dealers are instructed to replace the evaporative emissions purge pump as necessary, noting that the repairs are to be made at no cost to the vehicle owner.

Cadillac states that all eligible claims with repair orders performed after July 27th, 2023 will henceforth be covered by the newly extended warranty. Claims with repair orders prior to the aforementioned date must be submitted to the Service Contract Provider in order for vehicle owners to receive compensation. At this time, it’s unclear if there is a deadline for submitting claims related to the evaporative emissions purge valve repairs.
