First introduced for the 2020 model year, the Cadillac XT6 is offered as the luxury marque’s biggest crossover utility vehicle (CUV), slotting between the compact Cadillac XT5 and full-size Cadillac Escalade. Among the XT6’s various rivals is the Acura MDX, which received a brand-new generation for the 2022 model year. Now, we’re lining up the Cadillac XT6 and the latest-generation (2022/2023 model year) Acura MDX to see how they compare in terms of exterior dimensions, interior dimensions, and cargo room.

Exterior Dimensions
The Cadillac XT6 and Acura MDX vary quite a bit in terms of exterior dimensions. While overall length is close between both models, with just a tenth of an inch between them, the MDX has a longer wheelbase. The Acura is also wider overall, and has wider front and rear tracks.
That said, the XT6 is still significantly taller than the MDX, with an extra 2.8 inches in overall height compared to its Japanese rival.

Interior Dimensions
Inside, passenger space varies widely between the Cadillac XT6 and Acura MDX, even though both models seat up to seven people.
The biggest difference is in first row hip room in favor of the MDX. The Acura also has more shoulder room in the first and second rows, as well as more hip room in the second row. That said, the Cadillac XT6 has the leg up on the Acura MDX in terms of first, second, and third row headroom, likely thanks to its overall height.

The cargo room comparison results in somewhat of a mixed bag. The Acura MDX has more room behind the third row (with all three rows upright). However, the Cadillac XT6 has more cargo room behind the third row (when the third row is folded) and behind the first row (when both the second and third rows are folded).

I wish that when cargo comparisons are made between vehicles that what was provided was the DISTANCE between the back of the front seat to the rear deck lid with the rear seats folded down. Volume comparisons are mostly useless. What you want to know is how long an object will fit in the cargo area.
Another useful measurement would be the width and height of the opening to that area.

GM vehicles still offer much better interior and cargo space than any similar priced import.My Equinox can fit a 6 x 4 panel, 10 ft lumber, or a 10 ft aluminum ladder all inside.
