Cadillac XT4 Park Assist Retrofits Now Underway

The ongoing global microchip shortage forced Cadillac to withhold some features from vehicles in its lineup. This affected certain units of the 2022 and 2023 Cadillac XT4, which were shipped without the Park Assist features intact. Thankfully, the strain of the chip shortage seems to be easing, allowing the luxury marque to begin retrofitting the XT4 with the necessary components to make Park Assist active.

As a reminder, affected units of the 2022 Cadillac XT4 were built after January 3rd, 2022, while affected units of the 2023 Cadillac XT4 rolled off the assembly line at the Cadillac Fairfax plant from the start of regular production on July 31st, 2022. These vehicles were produced without Front Park Assist (production code UD5) or Rear Park Assist (production code UD7).

Buyers of affected units were notified ahead of the sale, as the excluded features were noted on the vehicle’s window sticker. If a particular Cadillac XT4 was built without Rear Park Assist, it was tacked with production code 00Y, while those lacking Front Park Assist were denoted with the production code 00Z. The luxury marque said that it would retrofit the features once supply allowed, free of charge to vehicle owners. In order to retrofit the aforementioned Park Assist features, a dealership technician will install and program appropriate Parking Assist Module, Instrument Cluster and Active Safety Control Modules.

As a reminder, in the absence of constraints, Rear Park Assist is normally standard on all Cadillac XT4 models, while Front Park Assist is standard on the Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels.

The  Cadillac XT4 sold in North America is powered exclusively by the turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY), rated at 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to Cadillac’s nine-speed automatic transmission that delivers power to the front wheels as standard or to all four wheels via an all-wheel-drive system as an extra-cost option. Looking ahead, the luxury crossover will receive a substantial mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 model year.
